{"id":19,"date":"2012-03-05T22:01:28","date_gmt":"2012-03-05T22:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wsu.tonahangen.com\/conhist2\/?page_id=19"},"modified":"2012-03-30T12:53:23","modified_gmt":"2012-03-30T12:53:23","slug":"papers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wsu.tonahangen.com\/conhist2\/papers\/","title":{"rendered":"Papers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Expectations for Graduate-Level Work<\/h3>\n<p>Papers submitted for credit in this class should meet these basic expectations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A title page or clear header with your name, the paper&#8217;s title, the name &amp; semester of the course, and the date<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Body of the paper is double-spaced<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Text of the paper has been thoroughly spellchecked &amp; proofread<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Avoid passive voice wherever possible<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Use gender-neutral language when speaking in the generic<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pages are numbered<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If a word count was specified, provide a word count at the end of the paper<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Quotations and references are clearly and correctly cited, using standard citation formats (Chicago Style or MLA)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Papers which do not meet these basic expectations can be returned to the author, without grading, to revise and resubmit.<\/p>\n<h3>Short Paper Assignments<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Document Analysis<\/strong>: In this assignment you\u2019ll take a single primary source and give it a close reading. Your analysis could consider content, form, context, structure, language, meaning, aesthetics, or other relevant aspects. 3-5 pages. You will select and read one scholarly monograph on a course-related topic, and write a 750-word book review of the work, addressing its contribution to the field of US Constitutional history. 3-5 pages<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Film Review. You will select and analyze one film or documentary on a course-related topic, and write a 750-word book review of the work, addressing its utility in teaching secondary students about US Constitutional history. 3-5 pages<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Archive Partner Review. Locate, investigate, and assess the quality of an archival partner (whether local, brick-and-mortar or digital) for 20th century Constitutional history. 3-5 pages<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The Seminar Research Paper<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Research Paper: <\/strong>12-15 pages, due 4\/23\/12.
